Storms

We got hit with a bad, bad storm yesterday. It came through 3 times in very short bursts. I was visiting my older adopted daughter at HSC and I just got into the building when (excuse the pun) all Hail broke loose. I’ve never seen anything like it. 80 mile an hour winds drove the hail into windows and buildings. My front windshield was cracked. Many windows at HSC were broken. I could barely hear the receptionists from the roar and sound of hail hitting the roof. Visiblity was zero and the ground was completely white with hail.
What’s the weather like where you’re at?

A week ago my grandpa was nearly killed by a big pine tree that had been torn apart by the wind. I’ve been keeping an eye on weather maps and issue “Grandpa Warnings” when storms are passing through our area.
The washing’s waving a bit. I expect it to get dark about dusk.
thats a crazy pic, glad everyone is all right
We are ot having storms here now, but in the area my kids are it’s been raining rockets for the past two days.
It was pretty quiet here yesterday. I’m in Madison, SD.
It has been hot and dry here all summer, except in the last two weeks we keep switching between hot, and then sudden storms. One street over from us there were tons of tree branches down and blocking the road. I love storms, but I don’t much care for the damage that you have to clean up after a rough one.
We’ve been getting constant intermittent thunderstorms for several days and are projected to have them for several days more. I was hoping to get out into the woods with my infrared camera, but the weather is not cooperating.
Yesterday we got some rain (southwestern IN), but no storms. As of right now, it is cloudy, but not raining.
At least you were inside! Just think if you were outside during that. Those kinds of storms scare me.
I’m so glad that you and yours are okay. Here? It’s very HOT and HUMID! The high has been in the upper 90′s with the heat index even higher. We could use a good rain.
Like I told you yesterday, this time of the year we all keep our fingers crossed. We worry about flash floods and hurricanes. The weather guys really don’t do much to help. Their jobs are all about the attention. So many times they hype things when they shouldn’t
Wow. I knew there was a chance for severe storms, but we didn’t get anything here. I hope there’s not too much damage! Sorry about your windshield.
As I type this we’re about to get a thunderstorm. I can’t remember the last time we had hail though. I was still in elementary school.
The best part about where I live, is that we really never see that sort of thunderstorm. Cool to look at sucks to be in them
We’ve had dry and hot. A few sprinkles this afternoon but it didn’t amount to much. Glad you were able to get into a building before the hail hit. It can be very dangerous.
The wrath of nature.
Oh man that would be terrifying. It is sunny and warm here. Great shot of the storm.
Right now, it is very cool out and that is because it rained earlier. Tomorrow it is supposed to be hot, though.
It’s really cold here. It feels like fall, but it’s only August.
Kinda depressing, really.
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - So thankful it was a close call.
@Sir_Sparrow - Crazy weather
@crochet_n_babyhats - The crops around here are gone – it’s so sad. Driving around town I see a lot of broken glass.
@hevcoh - Why rockets?
@rocketopossum - Well hello neighbor.
@bethro78 - I hear you on the liking storms but not the damage.
@TheSchizoidMan - turbulent weather
@makesenseofmadness - Outside would of hurt bad. All the crops around here are destroyed and a lot of broken glass
@stephensmustang - Both our van front windows were cracked.
@The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter - You know I read a book that showed how the weather forcasting came about. In the late 1800′s weather forcasting was very political. Businesses didn’t want the hype because it of course was bad for business, so there was no hype. Because of that when a blizzard hit the midwest, not much warnings were given. Thus many people died and a lot of them were children. Weather forcasting was taken out of the political realm soon after that. So now we deal with ratings …
@yourkbear - A lot of the crops around here were totally destroyed – so sad
@Randy7777 - Southern Israel has been under heavy rocket fire for thr third day now from Gaza.
We don’t have such storms in England.Her Majesty has forbidden it.
