  • Summer

I enjoyed this past summer.  We were able to get away several times and I was greatly refreshed.  I think my most memoriable moment was when we were camping out by the river.  Gavins Point Dam was in flood release and the sound of rushing waters could be heard in the stillness of the morning.  I will always cherish that moment.

What was your highlight of the summer?

    Psalms 30:8-12
    Word of the Day: nonplus
It’s not too often that I’m nonplused.

  • Buying an antique piano and teaching myself how to play……

  • We’ve had a great summer simply staying at home and calling time on our porch swing the high light of our days.

  • Flying to Minneapolis, Minnesota with my daughter in August. Once there, we rented a car and drove to Redwood Falls, MN (2 hours) … Saw the ‘Poorhouse’ where my great grandmother spent her last days … then driving to Lamberton, MN (2 hours) to see the graves of my great grandparents … also my mother was born in Lamberton in 1898 … then our final destination was New Ulm, MN (2 hours) and checking in our hotel. Spent most of the next day at the Brown County Historical Society finding info on my ancestors. Want to go back again next year when they will celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Sioux Uprising. We finished our trip by flying to North Dakota and spending it with my immediate family.

  • Summer was so wonderful that it was marked only by lows. The lowest low being the 6 weeks of unbelievable heat and drought that destroyed my garden!

  • Probably the highlight of this and many other summers is performing in September at CelticFest, Jackson, MS for so many years. This year was the 20th anniversary of the festival, and I’ve been a performer there for most of those years along with my friend and singing partner, Jim. Over the years, I’ve added presenting a workshop on “Tracing Celtic Music in America” and singing songs and telling/reading stories to children (and their parents) in children’s area. There is another hightlight upcoming for me in autumn: O’Flaherty’s Irish Music Retreat, October 21-23. It’s also like another homecoming, being with musicians and friends that I’ve made over the years there. I enjoy learning more about music and performance by taking classes of interest, instructor concerts each evening and “informal sessions” with others.  ~~Blessings ‘n Cheers

  • Also, I’m remembering a wonderul highlight earlier this summer - my grandson’s graduation on June 4 from H.S. in Austin, TX. He’s now a student at Abilene Christian U. and performing in a “praise band” there.

  • Going on a much saved for and much anticpated anniversary trip with my lover/husband.

  • Highlight was work!

  • Traveling and learning many things.
