Politics
I just finished a book about the Civil War. It was about Lincoln and the decisions he made during the war. Politics did not take a vacation during the conflict. Northern Generals wanted to win support and possible offices waged war with that goal in mind. General Grant and Sherman changed the course of the war. Their intent was on winning. There were seasons that it looked bleak for the North. The war lasted as long as it did because of the politics that were played. President Lincoln only liberated the slaves because it was advantagous in order to win the war.Do you like politics?

Politics is our duty as citizens. So we must be politically engaged whether we like it or not. The Founding Fathers designed the government so that the people were the sovereigns. If the part of the government that has the power is disengaged some other part of the government will usurp power. And then tyranny results.
I don’t like politics but I watch it closely. Whoever invented it should be fired.
If we realize that Gad is really in charge regardless of politics we can rest a bit easier.
I agree with RoaminCatholic@revelife above. Unfortunately, clever opportunists will always play dirty with the truth and usurp political power; and we see this glaringly today! So, I’m active in politics; but I do NOT like it. In fact, I HATE it! Come soon Jesus!
No, I don’t :p
I find Civil War history fascinating. It is amazing how vile politics have been in our nations past. Most who complain about how personal or offensive the political atmosphere is today, have little understanding about how things used to be. I once read a book about Abigail Adams and I could not believe some of the things she said/wrote about Jefferson.
No.
I enjoy reading about political theory as well as the nuts and bolts of everyday governance. Thoughtless partisan bickering rears its ugly head too often for discussions to be of much value.
Nope.
No.
@RoaminCatholic@revelife - Agreed
@mcbery - That’s very true.
@onjerusalemhill - Can politics be based on truth?
@wearywalden - Abagail was not a fan of Jeffereson. History is so interesting.
@YourOuterCritic - I hate the back and forth mud slinging. The Republicans are doing way too much of it right now against each other.
