CASA
I’m a CASA worker. Court Appointed Special Advocate. I’m excited that Yankton now has CASA. I’ve worked out of Sioux Falls (70 miles from here) and had to travel there. I will be getting a case soon. The case will be foster kid(s) that are in the system. Then I will spend time with the kids and investigate the case.

What exactly does a casa worker due? It’s very interesting to me, my husband and I just finalized our homestudy last week.
That sounds like a very hard job.
I admire people who are able to work in such positions. I wouldn’t be able to do it because I’m simply too sensitive. For example, I’m very much an advocate of rescuing stray cats and finding them homes, but I would never be able to work in a shelter because I would never be able to stop crying. The world needs strong people like you to do such difficult work.
Congratulations!!!
That’s neat. The local news likes to highlight them every couple months.
I’ve been interested in becoming a CASA. What are your primary duties?
@writersblock02 - A CASA worker basically writes a court report so a judge can make a desicion about a case. Each case takes several months. I would be visiting the foster children, foster parents and bio parents. Also would be interviewing any person or agency that is involved. A CASA worker is in touch with the Social Worker on a regular basis. Are you becoming a foster parent?
@RoaminCatholic@revelife - It can be at times. Going to court is probally the most difficult part of it.
@TheSchizoidMan - I’m not sure strong is the word I would use; it’s more like objective.
@bmojsilo - Thanks
@YourOuterCritic - That’s great. CASA is so very important in order to bring a balance when kids are removed from a home.
@WaitingToShrug - That’s great. I hope you become a CASA worker. A CASA worker basically writes a court report so a judge can make a desicion about a case. Each case takes several months. The worker would visit the foster children, foster parents and bio parents. Also would be interviewing any person or agency that is involved. A CASA worker is in touch with the Social Worker on a regular basis. The key is being able to stay objective in any case. I look forward to hearing more about your pursuit of CASA. I’ve had several cases already and I’m so happy I became involved.
@Randy7777 - You’re welcome.
Very cool and congrats.
@Randy7777 - Adopting actually.
@writersblock02 - Where you at in the process of adoption?
