  • Real Issue

I believe President Obama made a calculated attempt to get the nations eyes off of the terrible economic condition.  His anouncement came just before the news of a major bank failure.  I can see him using class warfare in order to get reelected and keep America from seeing the truth.  He has no plan on getting the econmy back on track.  He sent his budget through and even the democrates rejected it.

What is the main issue that this country should focus on?

    Obama sith lord

  • It’s a difficult question to answer, because different problems are so different in so many ways. It’s kind of like asking, “Which is more important, curing cancer or ending world hunger?” because they’re both very important but in very different ways and for very different reasons.

I think that, among those who care, at least, it tends to “come out in the wash”, as it were. My two big causes are gun rights and state/church separation, for example. Once in a while, I get taken to task by someone who sees that and thinks that I don’t care about, say, the TSA’s appalling behavior. The answer is, I do care about the TSA’s appalling behavior, but as far as trying to make the world a better place, there are other things that I feel more strongly about, and I tend to put my time, effort, and money into those areas that I care about the most.

  • @TheSchizoidMan - Thanks.  Too much governement causes the appaling behavior.

  • In most elections the state of the economy is the major factor I think. But this time around I believe we are worried about the economy because we see raw tyranny rising up out of Washington DC like Godzilla rose up over Tokyo.

Our nation and our culture is in danger of being crushed.

  • @PrisonerxOfxLove - You are so right.  What this nation was founded upon is in danger of dissappearing.

  • I blame everyone for the state of the economy, not just one single person or group of people. We all bought into overspending, living beyond our means for a long time. It was a great ride, but we knew it must come to an end sometime. The shitstorm is vastly approaching and we’re only beginning to care. Too bad we didn’t care in the 90s or earlier in the first decade of the 21st century. And I don’t think Obama makes a good Sith lord, he’s far too soft. Worse than Anakin.

  • @i_am_not_short - Agreed.  Americans wanted their representative to take care of them – republican and democrate.  Oh for the years of Reagan.

  • My daughter says he is a sleight-of-hand master. He uses one hand to focus us away from what the other hand is doing. I must say I agree with her.

  • @feedwaterclean - So true – and we’ll see in November if America buys it.

  • Personally I think this country needs to do a better job of teaching our children.. They need to learn to be more productive, to have better morals and work ethics. That is just a little bit of what I think is wrong with our country.  However, the immediate need is to create more jobs and give less to those who are unwilling to work!

  • education or just teaching everybody (of course me included) on how to cope with just living with the necessities

  • I am a big believer in the greatness of our nation. I am also a great believer in smaller government. I believe one of the greatest issues is the purposefull dependence the government engenders. In most cases it is not the governments job to secure charity or to ensure certain wages and so on. This is the job of the private sector restrained by moral guidelines. When people believe government programs are their right they believe their rights come from it hence they are dangerously close to worshiping the state in that that kind of dependence should only be to God.

  • It’s probably his last big effort to try to appeal to people.

I’m not buying it and he still doesn’t have my vote. As you said, it’s to distract people from larger issues going on.

  • Great point. It is horrible how Obama and other so-called leaders are distracting attention from real issues using gay marriage, abortion, and other such issues. They are changing are culture of freedom to a culture of **allowed** and **not allowed**–where everything not compulsory is forbidden, and everything not forbidden is compulsory. With the collusion of business and media, they attempt to make people ask **should gays be ALLOWED to marry?** **Should people be ALLOWED to own guns?** **Should people be ALLOWED to look at what they want on the internet?** — when none of that is any of the government’s business! How many laws does a nation need? Prolly not more than seventeen. Don’t kill people. Don’t rape people. Don’t steal shit or cheat. Hell, I can’t even think of any others. And yet a kid can go to jail for walking on railroad tracks because its not **safe**–clearly jail is a much safer place. The bastards are tighening the noose.
