interesting answer too, from the comments above me..
to the question, it does raise the question as to whom that word “terrorist” is referring to.. and if facts on the ground in term of number of people being killed, number of homes being demolished, number of people being denied basic necessities, area of lands taken, etc, it’s hard to see otherwise than what @xXxlovelylollipop have pointed out…
on the other hand, some people don’t really consider those number of casualties as a valid way to make such conclusion, rather they point out that there are so and so number of rockets fired from Gaza, for example… as compared to the number of mission that israel have launched… but, that kind of comparison is also not really a valid direct comparison, as if they want to count the number of rockets fired from Gaza, they should count the number of bullets, missiles, and whatever else that was launched cumulatively by the apaches, fighter jets, and whatnot by israel.. (but doing that would also put israel in a very bad light, i think.. unless, if one think that all of those are justified, like israel did)
Anyways, back to the question, if i’m putting it into context of what should israel do so that they no longer have to have any concern for any actions from Gaza (in particular), then the first comment in this post would be accurate, that they have to wipe out all the gaza population… i mean, if you take away people’s land, then force them to live in a small strip of land left for them, into one of the most congested piece of land there is, and though they can “govern” themselves, they still have no power of many things that a normal government or country would have, it is hard to imagine that they’ll just sit there contently with such reality.. i mean, we’ve seen that after all those have happened (back then), the establishment of hamas took place, and it sure seems that they wouldn’t back down, i think.. and they have the people behind them too, considering that hamas won the election held there (and currently hold the democratically elected government position).. um, back to the question, and i’m assuming the context that what would israel need to do to keep hamas from troubling them, then yeah occupying gaza might be the answer (because wiping gaza out would be too extreme for the world population nowadays, i think).. but then again, in a global picture, it will make israel more and more isolated in the world (and taking the US together with them, perhaps).. not to mention how will egypt and turkey would react if israel would continue to do such a thing..
(i do anticipate what would they do next, considering the situation already very tricky and fragile)
@xXxlovelylollipop - twisting of truth. Israel was attacked repeatedly by Hamas before Israel responded
@maniacsicko - if the USA was being attacked by Mexico would we stand by and let it happen? No we wouldn’t and neither should Israel. Hamas won’t stop. In fact they are cowards hiding behind children.
@PrisonerxOfxLove - Israel had that land before and gave it back for peace
Israel should never have given up the territory it took in the last war. Since they treat their own citizens better than the Palestinians I am all for them taking the enemy out on all fronts.
Seems like an untenable proposition. How long can they occupy and will occupation, in the long term, lead to peace? I doubt it.
@New1E13_15 - I agree Israel should not have given the land in the first place.
@christao408 - I don’t think Israel will ever have peace. Israel’s enemies want them gone.
Will it ever end? Will we see peace on earth in our life time? I don’t think so. It is so sad.
@dingdongdingbat - I think you are right. It will only get worse
@Randy7777 - i agree with you that i would defend my land if it is attacked, or occupied…
the thing is, both sides are saying the other sides is the one that is the aggressor, and they are the one that is defending their land.. israel feels that that is their rightful land, and they have the right to defend it by whatever necessary, even is it means denying other people’s basic rights… the palestinian never acknowledge israel’s right to take their land in the first place, hence many of them do not want to even acknowledge the existence of the state of israel (because of the way it is established).. of course they seem to be willing to go back to 1967 border and make peace, but that is something the israel wouldn’t agree upon.. so in the end it is that kind of a gridlock situation where i wouldn’t think peace is attainable, not in the near future at least.. unless the palestinian just accept that they will never get back to their land, and stop fighting… don’t think that would be happening though, for the very reason you stated with your question (they wouldn’t just stand and let it happen)..
@maniacsicko - Israel has never been the aggressor. It’s a miracle that they even exist. The Arabs thought they could wipe them out in the beginning but found out they couldn’t. They’ve been tricked in treaties in the past. The Palestine’s never asked. For their own homeland until Israel became a state. It’s a well devised plan to destroy Israel.
Israel needs to do what they can to stop the rocket assaults. They need to do a good enough job of it to stop them for a very long time. I don’t think it will be pretty.
