  • Love

My heart overflows with a beautiful thought!
I will recite a lovely poem to the king,
for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet.

It's why I will go through the fire.

It's why I will set my heart towards heaven.

Why do you do the things you do?  What is your purpose in life?

  • very thought provoking post for early in the morning !  :)

i don't know my purpose in life yet besides raising my kids to be responsible, kind, generous, caring people.

  • the first part of your entry sounds like something from psalms. very good for a sunday morning. =]

& as for the first question....either because I'm expected to, I feel it's right, I want to, I feel the instinct to, or I'm motivated to. mostly the last two.

can't answer the second question just yet.

  • Deep questions today. I do what I do for my family. I want us to be together forever. Ang

  • thnx for the prop

  • Many of the things I do are reactions to things which are beyond my control.  As I get older, I think more about prepairing myself for an afterlife that is devoid of flames...lol.

  • that was really cute! Why do i do the things i do? because its what i awnt to do, and i follow my heart =)

  • Good morning to you!!!

Gotta go to church really soon.

My true purpose on earth.. my first priority is to be the best daughter to God that I can be..praise him...remember to keep him the CENTER of my life.. Not always the easiest cuz I keep getting in the way.. but that is my purpose.

Secondary purposes.. be the best wife and mother and friend that I can be.. and then be a great employee, I guess that is another purpose

Also, seek out others who may need kind word or something.. being a good neighbor to strangers in my life.. I've had some fantastic encounters with ppl I didn't know and I've written about them occasionally on my blog.

    Have a great Sunday...

PS You have a 2 y/o...how many other kids do you have?? You mentioned older ones..????

  • What a great entry!!

My purpose in life is to be the best I can be for the people in it.

Also use my creative abilities....which I have been neglecting lately.

  • Hi it's britt ! how r u? talk to u later.

  • good afternoon! Hope you have had a good Sunday!

  • I am prompted to make every effort to "love my neighbor as I love myself."  Sometimes that is a most difficult task but I make every endeavor to be considerate and respectful.  The sage, "walk a mile in their shoes" always comes to mind when a scarscasm is upon the tip of my mind, in a response to their nastiness.

My conscious decision of purpose is to know Him, love Him and serve Him to the best of my abilities.  To spread the Word and to know when to shake the dust from my sandals and never look back.

  • To be a good person. ryc: 55 is young, especially considering I am 54!

  • Randy, I loved your entry.  Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts about blood. I got light headed donating  blood.=.  My question is: How would you do during a blood donation?

  • Raise happy healthy and loving children.

  • I do the things I do for my family.

  • You home school and that in itself is a wonderful thing. But what would you do for someone elses kid. Would you buy them a book? Read them a story? Teach them to read? Judi

  • LOL at your comment on my nephew hookaman1975's site....

  • Hi Randy,

I belonged to the American Field Service all throughout high school, and we hosted many exchange students in our community for several years. My family hosted a student, like I said, from the Philippines, and the same year, there was another student from Belgium. Each year too, one of our high school students participated in "Americans Abroad" the summer program where one of our students would spend time in a family's home for the summer abroad.

  • ryc...hehehehe SmorGASbord.......well I did have some of the broccoli!!! hehehehe...I see a Tom from Hershey, thats about an hour from my house, we hit the amusement park there in the summer

  • I am on a journey, and my purpose is to leave behind me a good memory while I focus my eyes beyond.  Also if I can, I will help the fellow travellers along the way as they stumble and become weary...................

  • My purpose is to raise my kids to be servants of our Lord and to love Him and to love Him myself too....Good question, tyc, that song is on Casting Crowns CD, "Lifesongs"

    Have a blessed day...Mike

  • Storing up treasures in heaven - and living for my Crown.......one day, whenever God chooses for that tp be!

RYC: Yeah, Umnenga and I both live in East London. And the funny part is that we have been very good friends for the past nine years, and didn't even know we both had sites on here till one day she happened past mine - lol!  I work up the road from her - but with being so busy we only get a lunchtime coffee date once every two weeks.

  • i do not know what my exact purpose is yet, considering that i'm still a student (but graduating real soon). but i do know that whatever i do, i want to honour my God. i want to do what He wants me to do.

  • do you mean eastlondon? it's about 10 hours from where i live by car. its also a coastal city like Durban. we have a popultaion of 4 million in Durban.

  • Dude you don't ask easy questions do you!  giggle.  I think instead of know why you are here it is important to let God/the universe flow through you and trust what God asks you to do.  You can never go wrong if you listen....because I believe we are here to enjoy life just as much as we are here to make a difference.  It would have never been created if it weren't meant to stop and enjoy, like the ocean the mountains, the flowers.  The animals, not so sure about the people though giggle some of them are pretty mean.

  • I'm a language geek!

  • RYC: Oh yes, the movie 300 was definitely full of action.

  • Thanks for sharing and subscribing.

With Jesus, we all have the same purpose in life because He told us what it should be, ie, the great comission.  It's how we approach it as individuals that makes our journeys with Him unique.

Personally, I'm still trying to figure out my approach and where I fit in with His great design.  I won't ever have it fully figured out because God doesn't ever reveal His plan in it's entirity to us because it'd be too much for us to handle.  But I know what I can do with my life today and tomorrow... only as far as the eye can see and often we're blinded to events until they pop up with no warning.

Like Old Hat is constantly telling me to do, I need to just keep making right decision after right decision, even in the small things, so that when the large problems come along I'll have a good habit started and be better prepared.

    Have a good day, Randy777.

  • I have many purposes...To be the best mother, wife and person I can be, as well as to live my life to glorify God. I don't always come close to meeting those goals, but I try.

    Have a lovely day!

    Hugs! =)

  • I hope to make the people that I encounter just a little bit happier, as they make my world a better place.  As for my purpose?  I think I'm still finding that out.

  • RYC: Yes I have a picture of me with 2 5 ft sharks swimming underneath.. it was amazing..

  • my main purpose in life is to serve God. well, i wouldn't be here if no for that. I wouldn't have the life i do if not for Him. he leads. I go. That is my purpose. With out that, my life would be...
