If you could press a magic button and your child would have 3 qualities.
     What would those qualitites be?

I went and seen my friend yesterday in the hospital. (He has a few days to live.) We had a great time talking about old times. I prayed for him before I left and that was precious.

Ever felt lonely in the midst of many people?  If so why do think that is?

  • Worship

The topic at Honor Bound this morning was "Worship".

    How do you worship?

    The Boy And The Filberts

A Boy put his hand into a jar of Filberts, and grasped as many as his fist could possibly hold.

But when he tried to pull it out again, he found he couldn't do so, for the neck of the jar was too small to allow of the passage of so large a handful.

Unwilling to lose his nuts but unable to withdraw his hand, he burst into tears.

A bystander, who saw where the trouble lay, said to him, "Come, my boy, don't be so greedy: be content with half the amount, and you'll be able to get your hand out without difficulty."

Moral: Do not attempt too much at once.

SkatingPlateSpinner.jpgI once read that people can catch monkeys much the same way.  The monkey can't get his hand out of a trap because of his hand grasping "the prize".  I may be strange but I live by the following illustration: (It's a Children's Pastor mind set.-lol)  -A plate spinner.  Some people can spin only one plate at a time, others 2 and still others several.  Each person must decide how many plates they can spin at a time.  I personally (figuratively speaking) can spin about 3 or 4 unless one of the plates is huge, then I can only spin one.  I'm at a time right now that I have one huge plate and so I'm putting down the other plates temporarily.

How many plates can you spin? (figuratively speaking)

  • Memory

Kelly, one of my friends from my younger years has 2 weeks to live.  I've been thinking of all the crazy things we use to do.  I remember we took a trip to the Black Hills one summer.  We decided to go there in the middle of the night, but we didn't want to get to the Hills at that time.  So, we crawled along the interstate at speeds of 10 miles per hour.  I think sometimes the passenger got out and ran along side the car.  -Great memories.  Kelly went by the name - "Bodacious Super Spook"

My question today is:  What do you want people to remember you as, after you're gone?

I was very motivated this morning.  I balanced two checkbooks, did the dishes, cleaned and vacuumed the house all before the sun came up.

    The Bear And The Travellers

Two Travellers were on the road together, when a Bear suddenly appeared on the scene. Before he observed them, one made for a tree at the side of the road, and climbed up into the branches and hid there.

The other was not so nimble as his companion; and, as he could not escape, he threw himself on the ground and pretended to be dead.

The Bear came up and sniffed all round him, but he kept perfectly still and held his breath: for they say that a bear will not touch a dead body.

The Bear took him for a corpse, and went away. When the coast was clear, the Traveller in the tree came down, and asked the other what it was the Bear had whispered to him when he put his mouth to his ear.

The other replied, "He told me never again to travel with a friend who deserts you at the first sign of danger."

Moral: Misfortune tests the sincerity of friendship.

  • Davy Crockett

Davy Crockett has been a hero of mine since I was a boy.  He didn't want office but accepted it when he was voted in.  The King of the Wild Frontier would put this motto (or something close to it) under his signature:  "Discover what is right and follow it."

I'm curious:  How do you find out what is right?  What's your process?
