2012 – The end?
There is talk that the end is going to happen in 2012. I’ve even had kids come up to me and ask me if everything was going to end in 2012. Apparently some parents are telling their kids this.

What do you think? Is the world going to end in 2012?
or
What do you think the next major world event will be?
or
What is the fate of this world?Family Feud question: Name one item from a ladies purse.
I picked up our speaker for Kid’s Krusade. Noah got such a kick out of
Jay. He is a ventriloquist. He had a bigger bag and he told Noah his son
was in the bag. Of course his son spoke from inside the bag. Noah was
so impressed.

I have heard this too! Haven’t a clue why? Maybe it is because of all these natural disasters that are happening. Maybe it will escalate! Hopefully it is another myth.
I love Family Feud we called it Family Fortunes
I would take a guess at money (but knowing the survey something rude might be up there)
I’ve heard this for years and I still don’t believe it. Nobody knows when the world will end. If it were to end by 2012 though, I wouldn’t mind it at all. This world sucks with all its sinners etc. I think it’s time Jesus came back and got His people so we can leave this Earth behind. I am all for that! The fate of this world is written in the Bible but a lot of people don’t wanna believe it. I guess it’ll bite them in the ass when everything the Bible describes happens. Good post!
FFQ: Cell phone.
@Margo73 - So true – esculation seems to be what is happening.
Its not just kids its teachers too. I remember in grade 9 to grade 12 teacher’s where talking about how the world is going to end soon, and a lot of teachers even believed it. My parents don’t believe it. My mom says they say it ever few years, they claim a dooms day and it never really happens. All it does is just scary people, and make other’s believe so they do everything they want too. (I’d rather be a person that tries to do everything on my bucket list… just saying) i don’t think it will.
And pad/tampons.
@my_final_username - Hopefully nothing rude – Family Fortunes – What country?
@boricua_chic_2008 - Makes for a good conversation but I’m with you on this.
@MyFaire - Really? Teachers talking about it? – Thanks for commenting.
@Randy7777 - It does indeed! I knew you’d agree.
@boricua_chic_2008 - LOL -
I try always to live my life so that the ending date of the world is irrelevant.
@Randy7777 - They do. xD I’m not even sure why they talk about it. xD
The fate of this world is terrible. But we don’t know when the end is. The Bible says that, even when disaster happens, that it is only the beginning.
@Randy7777 -
United Kingdom, last few seasons/series have been celebrities, soaps, daytime tv stars etc.
@lanney - Interesting way to live.
@Mal_P - So true
@my_final_username - Thank you – I learned something new today – Family Fortunes in the UK. Steve Harvey hosts Family Feud. I love it. He’s such a great comedian. The way he looks at people when they give a stupid answer is so funny.
I always find it entertaining when people say, “Prepare for the end of the world!” What do they expect me to do, pack a bag?
My crystal ball says that 2012 spells the end of the Obama Regime.
I have no idea whether the World will end or not, that lies in God’s hands, but I do know it scares the bajeebus out of me
FF – Checkbook.
As you might already know, this whole idea about our world coming to an end comes from the Mayan Calendar that predicts an end to an era. Problem being is, writers of books on this theory have exagerated the reality of the 2012 Mayan Calander and pronosticated that the “end” of an era was meant to be the end of the world. Far from it folks. So, if I were you, I wouldn’t hold my breath. 2012 will come and on the next day you, me and everyone else on this freakin planet will still be looking for the end of the world. And thats just it, civilization has been talking about this sky is falling theory since the era of Christ. Tell you what, we all need to give this disaster dream a break and live each day to the fullest.
Well, if the Mayans are right and we interpret it correctly, the world will end or start a new cycle a few days after Hanukkah and a few days before Christmas. At the same time, I am not 100% sure I’d like to trust Mayans over the prophets, and believe that the world will end before the Moshiach will come.
The world is not going to end. The Mayans just simply ran out of room to put down dates.
I believe what the Bible says, that we will not know the day or the hour. Prophecy is pointing to the birth pangs of the end though. I don’t believe in the Mayan calendar predicting an end in 2012. As anything, I think the media likes to play such things up. Preparing for the end would be to be right with God through Jesus.
I can see it now… “Mommy when I grow up I want to be a fireman!” (mom) “Sorry dear but the world is endig next year”. (kid) “oh…”.
Thats really good for motivation… (sarcastic)
I don’t care of the world ends I’m still going to live my life like it isn’t. If anything the world ending should be a cause for MORE motivation. Everyone should follow their dreams just in case.
@Starlight_Angel_79 - That’s a great way to live.
@ABAHM - Agreed
@laytexduckie - Agreed
@hevcoh - Interesting
@The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter - Live Life to the Fullest – yes
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - Now that I can handle.
I don’t believe the world is going to end exactly. I just think it’s the end of a time and start of a new beginning.
@ArmyWife4Life2007 - Only God the Father knows
I don’t think it will end. I think the poles are shifting, which would create some serious issues, but I don’t think it will end. As far as the fate of the world goes, I think people ought to quit worrying about the fate of the world and enjoy living in it for the few decades that they have.
Besides, what am I going to do if it does end in 2012? Stop it?
FFQ: lipgloss
I read that the end of the world will be on May 21, 2011. << I didn’t know that this one. But I heard of the Dec 21, 2012 one. The planets are suppose to be in line with the sun. That will be one line….
As for the END….I think we could be in the beginning of a new cycle of this age. We are living in the END Times. Things will have a major change….
What major event….? We are lining up with what’s to come…The world is about to “go under” more wars and chaos, hard times etc. Things won’t make sense. But we still have to believe that God is with us…..
As for what’s in a ladies purse….I wonder what’s in Queen Elizabeth’s purse. The Queen has every thing she needs and more. What’s in a ladies purse? The necessities what most important while we are about. Always have your keys and some cash with you ladies…
yeah this has been everywhere.. Honest I dont know when the world will end its up to God, I mean revelation spells it out and you know yes I do see things that have been predicted.. Like the things going on in the middle east.. But Revelations is a closed cannon we dont know its almost riddles.. and we can only guess..
something in a womans purse.. Lipstick
Since only Father God knows when Jesus will be back and all that will happen with the world–I don’t even attempt to speculate.
wallet/billfold.
No. I hope I am not as wrong as I was on your last post.
@prettynpink628 - Good answer – thanks
@Journaling_Susan - Thanks – interesting – Queen Elizabeth’s purse
@stephensmustang - No man knows the date – so true
@theunknowndarkness1 - Revelations is a mystery – I love mysteries
@Shining_Garnet - I like that.
The Mayans said that and a movie was made about it. I’m assuming some kids watched the movie. I didn’t. I don’t think we should speculate too much. Kids have enough to worry about. It’s in God’s hands. I remember being scared when I was young. The important thing is to live as though it could end tomorrow and work as though it will go on forever. My opinion.
2012 is the dawning of the age of Aquarius.
j/k
I have no idea what, if anything will happen in 2012 or when and how the world will end. The tradition I was raised in says it is all explained in Revelations.
I’ve heard that too – for the first time last summer when a young man came to us on the chapel and asked how to be sure he is ready to meet God. It will happen some day, so it is my desire that I serve the Lord every day and be prepared for whatever God has planned.
The world might end in 2012. Not because of the Mayan Calendar or some prophesy, but because of the threat nuclear power plants can pose (see Japan), biological pathogens, natural disasters (killer asteroids). The world can end anytime. And it will probably do so due to politics.
I highly doubt the world will “end” next year. On the other hand, we’ve been destroying the Earth for years…at this rate, it’s inevitable that we’ll destroy our planet and/or consume all its resources sooner or later. I just don’t think that it’s going to be next year. But depressingly, I think it will be within the next century or so if people don’t change their attitudes and lifestyles drastically.
@a_drunken_cellist - Thanks for commenting. I’m with you I don’t think it’ll end next year.
@Jewelbeetle - Nuculear power plant – that doesn’t look good at all.
@cerwindoris - That’s a good way to live.
No one knows the time or the date but it is written, so be it. Just be ready because it will come.
@C_L_O_G - Let the sun shine, let the sun shine in….
Well my daughter is supposed to get married like 2 days after the end of the world, so i hope not. After all the planning, money etc… I would hate for it to all go up in a puff of smoke lol.
I’m 50, the end of the world was supposed to happen so manay times, I can’t even count. So no, I doubt it. But if it ends it ends. I son’t know I guess a nuclear things would do it, I forget how they are saying it will happen, but I hope it’s quick.
Ladies purse? Um, I would say. “Lipstick”. One a shade of mauve and the other RED. Can you guess which isn’t for Sundays?
“It will come like a thief in the night.” [1 Th 5:1-3] That is what is said about the end of life here on Earth. We will not know when this will happen, and thats probably the whole point. I definitely believe we are close. But how soon is ”soon?” Who knows. The bible speaks in terms of eternity, so “soon” could still be hundreds or thousands of years off, or it could be tomorrow. I worry about how much worse things will get before that time comes, but I suspect recent natural disasters, the crumbling of faith, kindness, and morality, and the growing power of the government, (among other things) are only the tip of the iceburg.
@TheGhioniFiles - LOL – I would guess RED
@tracilla81 - That is so true – Exciting
@momofjenmatt - Your daughter getting married – so exciting. Congradulations
@gottobereal64 - oh yea
@Lucy_or_Ethel - so true
ding! ding! ding!
Also, regarding what people reveal to their children, I think it depends on the child. My daughter has a very strong faith in God, and is as fascinated by the discussion of end times as I am. It doesn’t scare her in the least, because she trusts in God more than she trusts in any human. (A rarety among adults, let alone children.) My son gets a little more nervous when the topic is brought up, and its understandable. But our family deeply believes in all aspects of our faith, so we discuss it. With my son, I attempt to limit the discussion on end times to pieces of information that I feel he can handle for now. But I would be doing them no favors by sugar coating the truth or leaving parts out. We discuss all areas of our faith…end times included, and I believe the more information they have, the stronger their faith grows.
I’m not saying my parenting is the only right way to do things. This just happens to be the direction God has lead our family and it works great for us.
It’s a whole thing about the Mayans isn’t it?
But everyone always things the ‘end is nigh’ it’s just one of the things humans worry about.
Perhaps rather than an end it’s going to be a change, Like a change of conciousness.
I don’t think it should be told to kids and the like though, because that’ll just worry them for no reason, also there’s a chance that the more people who believe that it’s the end the greater the chance they’ll bring it about….and that would just be annoying if we chose to end the world rather than choosing to make all our societies work better together or something.
2012 will be the end (of 2011).
The Mayans whose calendar this came from have made clear it does not signal the end of the world, in their tradition… so mainly it has just been hijacked by a bunch of non Mayan loony pants. The world will end or it won’t… never figured the point in stressing over it.
i thought i read somewhere that they discovered a mistake in calculations.
the “real end of the world” is now 2112 .
might need some proof on that though~
@The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter - Pretty much.
OP:
Also, I’ve read and watched about this 2012 thing and it’s not really so much an end, as a new beginning really. I think people take the context out of it.
FF: Tampons
@hevcoh - Talk about a stressful holiday season!
@squeakysoul - If the world ends at least I don’t have to worry about losing all the weight I’ll get from eating sufganiyot and latkes for 8 days!
I also heard a theory that the world will end on May 20 this year, which is awfully unfair t o my friend and my partner, whose birthdays are May 22 and 23 respectively.
haha probably because of that movie…
I bet 2012 will be about the same as 2011, for the world.
@Randy7777 -
@Randy7777 -
well only if it happens, people keep teasing us about not buying the gift until the day before the world is to end, it’s kind of a fun date, since they can hopefully say, ” hey we made it!” ” We aren’t all dead” ha ha But thank you.
That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life and no, I have no idea, and the world doesn’t have a fate.
There is to be a rare alignment of the earth with the sun and the galactic centre.. “Age of Aquarius,” astrologically speaking. This occurs so rarely that the last time it appears to have happened, the bible hadn’t been written to predict anything
whats 2012 is about is fear tactics toward a movement; the most intense movement that this planet will ever see….the population is being “taught” of an end time event for the world because something will happen in 2012 but it wont cause the end of the world…from what prophecy teaches us is that the devil will cause fire to come down from heaven and decieve the whole planet through signs and wonders, causing all to follow the beast…well i believe this fire will fall in 2012 and the population will understand it to be “the end” so they’ll run to the churches out of fear and the bible says that the anti christ will be sitting in the place of god showing himself as god, so when all run to the church to worship god they wont be worshiping Jesus but the imposter who is infact the antichrist…oh and the antichrist doesnt mean some tyrannical ruler against jesus but that word anti there is used for a substitute of christ…this is where the mark of the beast is set upon the followers; the mark is the act of worship its not some physical stamp or brand or technological imprint, though it would be clever to use it anyway to make people run away from a certain image and get into the church…
Everything thoughs people have said is going to happen, happens. I do believe that something is going to happen, I don’t think the world is going to end. My guess is something like China is going to take over the U.S. But who knows. It’s just crazy that everything else they said made sense with what they said was going to happen.
I don’t believe it. I DO believe, however, that we will probably experience some drastic changes in our lifetimes, and not for the better. Our irresponsible use of natural resources and huge focus on consumerism will come back to bite us in the ass sooner or later.
Also, it’s possible that the planet could be due for a polar flip sometime soon. And by “soon”, I’m talking about time relative to Earth’s history, so “soon” could easily be 1000+ years from now. While I don’t really believe that it’ll happen in our lifetime, it is an interesting idea to think about.
im not sure about the world coming to a definite end maybe a halt tho, with all the nuclear radiation talk and so many drastic events, fight over the government in third world countries,constant natural disasters. No matter what whether the world ends in 2012 or not we are definitely getting closer to the end. Everyday we die and get closer to deat so inevitably we get closer to the world coming to an end as well. No one knows exactly when it will happen though.
A group of Christians are trying to one-up the Mayan calendar group.. haha! They say that the world is going to end on May 21. Well, not technically end end, that’s just the start of the end, I guess… which will be October 21. They’re total nut jobs though. Who cares when the world ends.. I feel like the natural disasters and such that have been occuring just seem like they’re on an uprise because the media is ALL OVER THEM and they get more attention than they did 30 or 40 years ago. *shrug*
well know one knows when it’ll end..if people knew that then they’d live the way they do up until the appointed time does come and try to change, lol…if i were satan id have people looking one way and thinking my way while approaching an unpercievable route…theres always been wars and rumors of wars and disasters and natural disasters famine and plagues and they’ve been saying its gonna end for the longest time but they didnt have the signs like we do this day and age…we’ve had 2 world wars in past 100 years; we used to walk and ride horses now we’re building a city in space; it’s here our generation is a chosen generation
I doubt the world will end next year. IMHO, Christ/the end will come when we least expect it.
We’ve been saying the world is going to end in 2012 because that’s when they indicated the “end of an age” and I guess they got wiped out before they could carve out the next calendar. The world is not going to end.
What I DO believe is very likely is a shift in global politics, environment and business. I know for sure there are going to be some issues with loans and mortgages because several companies took up on the ’2012′ thing and decided to advertise “0 payments until 2012!” Even if the federal government doesn’t crumble and massive fires do not wipe out huge populations, there are at least going to be a lot of people finding themselves unable to pay off their cars, furniture or houses.
No i do not believe the wrold is going to end in 2012 and when the world does end, I believe it will be man made. I believe we will destroy ourselves like we are destroying Mama Earth.

In the year 1000, everyone believed that the world was going to end, but it was a totally normal year.
In the year 2000, people believed that Y2K was going to happen and stocked up for the apocalypse. Again, it was a totally normal year.
People are saying that according to some long-dead civilization, that the world is going to end. Judging from the previous assumptions, what can we estimate will happen in following this pattern? NOTHING. 2012 will be a normal year and people are going to feel silly.
Humans are obsessed with death, so it’s no surprise they’ll eat this shit up like a fat kid with a slice of chocolate cake. However, if it should happen, I’m all for it.
People need to die, go away, vanish forever, what have you.
didn’t everyone think the world would end in 2000 because the computer wouldn’t be able to handle the 0′s?
Naw, the world won’t end in 2012. I just saw the movie. Seriously, no I think that at the very worst the last person with Mayan blood will die. I saw a show where they talked about Mayan civilization and their calendar. The show’s viewpoint was that the Mayan calendar often stopped right at points where devastation happened to the Mayans, not the entire world. So, if that is true hopefully some 125-year-old Mayan will die.
According to the Mayan calendar it is so. But they have recently proven that the Mayan calendar is off about 50-100 years.
@TiredSoVeryTired - saw the movie – lol
It was going to end in 2000 and 2006 as well. Next, someone will look in a crystal ball and see the world ending in 2018. Just you watch and wait.
“The world will only end when it is at peace”
My family doesn’t believe it because they said that a few years back too. There are also many movies about doomsday, but my family believes that if it comes, it comes. There’s no use worrying about something that “might” happen, when you could just live life and be happy about what is now. Predictions are predictions. I have seen and heard about more frequent natural disasters, but there are scientific explanations to those disasters. All we really can do is hope for the best and live as if tomorrow is a brighter day. People live and people die, that’s the cycle of life, so eat, play, live.
I’ve been told I am a very lofty person, and I have a few thoughts for your child. First of all, what is their personality like? If he is an energetic dreamer, you may want to add some emphasis about the notion of ‘dreaming’ itself because that is how the mind works. For example, you wouldn’t go up to them and be like ‘the world is going to end’ but instead you are going to speak of dreams with a tad of thought. Give a dose of your personality (happy yet serious) as you talk about the countless /wrong/ predictions. This should encourage your dream-child along with your plausible analysis. However, if your child is more of the serious side with the intention of crying often times, have them do coping skills (especially if anxious) in order to cure the fear of being terrorized by this doomsday prophecy. If he/she isn’t feeling any better yet (regardless of the reasoning that you gave him/her) then find somebody who is persuasive to help do the job. Talk to him/her at night because nights are known for their discomforting positions. I think you should have a feeling of refreshment around the house for him/her to rely on, perhaps a few family friends to play games with your child. This should ease the mind a bit, because the mind is the basis of fear; besides the soul, which some don’t believe in.
If your child has bad dreams about such a thing, then something is probably locked in his subconscious giving him an extreme reason to be afraid. If this is so, you should probably take him/her to a psychiatrist if it gets too bad. Nobody deserves to feel doom.
Besides: You want to tell your kids what a doomsday /really/ is. It’s a scam made by the governmental society as well as famous people in order to gain publicity by scaring other people. They gain their so-called ‘truthful intuitions’ by reading up on past events such as the Mayans and spreading the news world-wide. Doomsday is also created by fear for those who care deeply about the world and their dreams. They are afraid of their protection (almost like the crater for their souls) dying, with dead life. Absent – not only dead. People are terrorized about the world ending with the galaxies (and other galaxies) being like absent voids with a life form. A nature as a dead soul. OK. You see. That scares people. This is locked in certain people’s thoughts.
Ask your child what you feel the basis of their fear is. If they are truly sure that the world is going to end, and you speak to them repeatedly, then find a way to get their dreams completed. In other words, take them to places so they can complete their life objections, and feel pride and a sort of sensibility in their work. I hope these work for your child/children.
Oh, and I believe that the idea is completely scary, and even sickening…but fraudulent. If there is going to be any change it is going to be a few countries put to war more than ever, with nature biting us in the ass with more job and money problems – economical failure and crisis. If there is anything good, I feel it will be a change in our senses, (in a metaphysical way) where we could actually feel a different time period consume us. By ‘time period’ I mean an actual feeling among us, where we are wrapped in another dimension of time. This could go along with a different dimension of the future that may have had some tie-in with the Mayan prophecies – as long as Nostradamus’ prophecy..that had to do with the 31st century (from what I can remember) I think we will be thinking differently after all of these nonsensical prophecies/intuitions.

I don’t know the answer, and won’t even assume - And there are some incredibly in depth answers here… We don’t know when. 2012 – 2015 wouldn’t surprise me. The Earth is having so many birthing pains.. Contractions. We’ve beat the hell out of her and she can only take so much. And, yes absolutely – whatever happens, it will be a new era.. I believe we have answers coming that we could never comprehend before. We have so much potential and we squelch our God-given gifts and over-analyze/glorify looking for quick solutions to success.
She’s about to spit us out now. All of us luke-warm fools.

See, now that’s just common sense right there, lol.
