Goodbye
Blessed are those who believe when there is no evidence of an answer to prayer—who trust beyond hope when all means have failed.
Someone has come to the place of hopelessness – the end of hope – the end of all means. A loved one is facing death and doctors give no hope. Death seems inevitable. Hope is gone. The miracle prayed for is not happening.
That is when Satan’s hordes come to attack your mind with fear, anger, overwhelming questions: “Where is your God now? You prayed until you had no tears left. You fasted. You stood on promises. You trusted.”
Even questioning God’s existence will be injected into your mind. These have been the devices of Satan for centuries. Some of the godliest men and women who ever lived were under such demonic attacks.
To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word: Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights – and in that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in your hour of pain.”
This was not an ordinary devotion. It was the last devotion that David Wilkerson would write. He would die in a car accident the next day – Wednesday, April 27, 2011. I’m sure his wife and family will read these words over and over again.
I will miss you David Wilkerson, founder of Teen Challenge. I will miss your daily devotions

If this were your last day, what would you want to say?

That is amazing! May God comfort his family.
@ata_grandma - I believe God has already started. I read his son’s devotions this morning and it was touching.
Wow that was an amazing story. And these words sure did help me today, because I feel as if I am really going through the deep end.
@Mal_P - The darkest dark comes before great life. I wish you the best.
@Randy7777 - Thank you Randy. I sure do need that. I am feeling so low down and out.
Those are some prophetic last words. When I go I hope to have something half as moving.
I was unaware of David Wilkerson’s death. A great man of God, my sympathy to his family.
I will have to give this more thought as to my last words.
I’ve thought these very things many times.
Thank you, Randy
There is simply no way to replace good men like that.
How sad, but he did not die an unlived life. That is my goal on a smaller scale.
Wow. What a wonderful prayer, his own family can be comforted by his words.
An inspiring man…. May his words continue to reach out to those in need…..

I saw this devotion when I read about David Wilkerson’s passing. I read The Cross and the Switchblade as a elem. school student. Then have re read it several times. Also saw the movie. David Wilkerson was courageous and a very Godly man. He will be missed. Prayers for his wife.
@stephensmustang - Yes, he will be missed. We have many “Teen Challenge” guys in our church.
David Wilkerson, I haven’t thought of him in a long time. He was an awesome man of God.
I don’t know what I would say if I knew I was dying tomorrow. I often joke with people saying the lyrics from a song are my last words.
“Put the keg on my coffin
And think of me every so often
Have a losers day parade
for all my friends
Drink up life like a river
’til the pizza man delivers
And smile and know I loved you ’til the end”
~ The Push Stars
I would probably want to say something simple like live, love, laugh, you never know what day will be your last.

I am somewhat familiar with his name and “The Cross and The Switchblade”. I am sorry to read of his passing, but thankful he was a good servant of the Lord and is with his Lord now. His last words are so filled with love and hope, actually. I pray for God’s continued comfort and blessing for his family. I have no idea at this time what my last words may be or when they may be. ~~Blessings & Prayers
