  • Terminal Condition

I woke up this morning with this thought on my mind: I have a terminal condition.  I will die.  I’m not sick and I don’t have an incurable illness.  But one day I will die.  I will live life even more today because of that thought, since it could be my last.

Do you think of dying very much?

  • Randy, I am 66 and Fritz is near 70. Yes, we discuss the reality that most likely one of us will pass on before the other. It is with assurance that one of us likely will meet Jesus before the other one. If we are wrong about our strongly held beliefs that Jesus is the ‘only’ way? What have we lost if we do find there are many ways to Heaven? But the question remains, what if we are correct? We have everything to win and nothing to lose. So it is with peace of mind we live each day without fear of death and the recognition that unless He returns first, we shall pass from this earth. It is the process that is uncertain.

  • Only hoping it won’t take too long.

  • I think of dying every day but I try to put it out of my mind.

  • My wife passed away on April 11, 2010.  She was not even 62 at the time.   Seems way to young to die, yet God knows our days and does as He intends to.   Peggy is with Him now and I will be there too, some day.   We know that all people die sometime, but the living now and the life we can have in Christ should be our focus.   I miss my wife so very much and probably will never marry again.   I am thankful for the salvation that God has provided through His Son and the victory we can have over the fear of death.

  • I really don’t think about it

  • @Lucy_or_Ethel -  I love your answer. I strongly believe and live that Jesus is the only way to heaven. Narrow minded for the narrow road.

  • @quest4god@revelife -  Jesus is such a comfort. Thanks for sharing

  • @TheSchizoidMan - Wishing you a great day.

  • Sometimes to think of dying is a relief… since I believe in Heaven and God, I believe that life continues on and is pain free, hurt free and worry free. This world is fantastic but flawed. Until it is repaired, Heaven will always look better. For instance friendships with no hurts involved: How amazing that would be!!!???

  • @Tempguestbrief - So True – Heaven looks so much better.

  • Yes. Every chemo day.

  • I don’t usually ponder about death, but I do believe living every day as though it were your last could bring out the most and let you treasure every moment, so that you won’t die with regrets.

  • @hevcoh - Awww. I am sorry. But hopefully the chemo is helping you a lot.

  • With the impending knee replacement surgery coming up this week, yes I do think of death and dying. Not often, but it does cross my mind. Knowing too much sometimes is a pain. Sometimes I wish I were just a lay person and didn’t know anything about medicine!

Those pictures are too raw to understand the reason about life and death.

  • I have clinical depression and death is always in the back of my mind and so far I have been able to keep it pushed back there and fill my black times with thoughts of things that are pleasant. I work hard not to live in the darkness of depression.

  • Well, yes. I am in my 70′s. At this point, I have outlived my paternal grandmother and my father. Others in my family have lived much longer, but I don’t know how much I can depend on “longevity genes” to determine how long I might live. Right now, I am relatively healthy for someone my age. On my blog I reported my annual PC doc visit & follow up labs & mammogram. So far, so good. I do think about death and how I should be living in whatever time I’m being granted. I don’t consider that it is morbid to think about it. ~~Blessings, Prayers ‘n Cheers

  • @Lucy_or_Ethel - That’s the way I think about it as well.

  • Not usually.  However, a friend of mine I met online, who has the same autoimmune disease I do (and two of our sons do) is in the hospital dying b/c of the disease..makes me think a bit more about it.
